Board of Trustees
As a proud SHS Alum (k-12 in SISD) and sixth-generation Springtown resident, I would be honored to have the opportunity to serve Springtown ISD as a member of our Board of Trustees. Before retiring not quite two years ago, I spent 20 years working in Springtown ISD with students from our elementary, middle, and high school campuses.
My career in education began in Robinson ISD where I taught and served as the Varsity Tennis Coach. While there, our Tennis Team finished third at the State Meet. I joined my husband in Groesbeck ISD as an Asst. Tennis Coach for one year, and was fortunate to coach Girls Doubles and Boys Doubles teams at the UIL State Championship. Planning to start a family, I then spent two years as a second grade classroom teacher.
I returned home to Springtown in 1998, briefly teaching a Dyslexia Recovery class at Springtown Elementary before beginning my career as a Counselor at Eagle Heights Elementary in Azle ISD. The next nineteen years were spent as a Counselor in Springtown ISD, with stops at SES for three years, SMS for six years, and SHS for ten years. I retired from Springtown ISD after a 31 year career in Education. I now enjoy a part-time position with Poolville ISD, serving as their CTE and CCMR Coordinator.
I believe I have a broad perspective regarding public education in general, and particularly in Springtown ISD. If elected, I will join the Board without any agendas other than to ensure that a) students continue to be the District's top priority, and b) teachers are provided the tools and support necessary to ensure THEY can succeed in their effort to help STUDENTS succeed. I will view every decision through the lens of a former SISD student, a parent of two SHS graduates, and a former SISD employee. I hope the students I was blessed to work with over the last twenty-five years would attest to the open, honest, and sincere motivations I have had in looking out for their best interests.
